Children's Literature
Program Competency:
-Survey of children's literature for teachers and parents. Emphasis on developing literacy and strategies for integrating children's literature into school and home environments.
Artifacts Completed for Competency:
- Picture Book, Poetry, Folklore, Fantasy, Historical Fiction, Realistic Fiction, Informational, Biography and Multicultural
What I Learned:
What I have learned in this class, is a better understanding how educators will be able to use books and use extended activities to help encourage children to read.
How This Helps My Future:
Being able to complete a literature evaluation on a story can help me as a teacher grow. It can help me get more in depth with what the story is about and the use of illustrations. That will help me better help my students to understand the story. Then creating a lesson plan on the story can encourage students to participate and learn more that what they story taught them. Students can better interpret literacy than more than just the book, but the use of activities. It can encourage new vocabulary and social skills.
